To Tingbjerg with love
Commissioned for the contemporary art festival Visit Tingbjerg, Charlotte Haslund-Christensen returned to the montage of small-scale prints in her monumental mural HEROES to create a community portrait of the Copenhagen suburb Tingbjerg, recently categorised as a ‘ghetto’ by the Danish government.
Aimed at creating and representing face-to-face meetings with the people behind the headlines, the artist spent a month in dialogue and interaction with local residents, who all signed the Polaroid portraits that comprise the work, thereby leaving their individual mark on the history of their neighbourhood.
